About the Recipe

This is a simple, delicious, carb-rich recipe; full of antioxidants, and low-GI (slow release) carbs.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water

  • 2 cups rolled oats

  • ½ teaspoon Kosher salt

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • pinch of nutmeg

  • 3 sweet apples peeled and chopped; any kind

  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup

  • ¼ cup pecans chopped

Preparation

MAKE IT


  • Add the water to a medium pot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Add in the oats together with the salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and stir well to combine.

  • Next, add in the apples. Reduce the heat and let it simmer over medium-low heat, for 10-12 minutes stirring occasionally.

  • Once the apples are tender, stir in the honey and pecans.

  • Turn the heat off, cover the pot and let the oatmeal sit for 5 minutes.
